8U Team - New for 2026 - Important Details
In order to introduce the sport of lacrosse to younger players, Badgerland (BLA) is introducing the 8U Girls Co-Op program this year. The program parameters include:
- Applicable to girls in grades K-2.
- This is potentially a co-op program. Waunakee Club needs at least 10 girls to register. If less than 10 players, then those who are registered will be placed on a co-op team with players from other clubs.
- Season runs from April 20th through June 1st.
- The BLA Co-Op Program Director will determine a practice field rotation that aligns with the location of the girls in the Co-Op program.
- The Co-Op program will conduct two 1.5 hour practices a week.
- The Co-Op program will do inter-squad scrimmages as appropriate (5v5).
- Program cost is $25.
- Loaner equipment of sticks, goggles, and pinnies will be provided by BLA and must be returned at the end of the season. (Players who have their own equipment can use it instead of the loaner equipment.)
12U Team - Important Details
The 12U team consists of girls in grade 5 and 6. We will make every attempt to create a 12U team, but it will be dependent upon if we have enough girls to register a team AND if other clubs have enough registrants to also field teams. This will not be known until registration closes and numbers are evaluated across the league. We will make every attempt to have a 12U team, if possible. If it is not possible, then the 5th graders will revert to 10U and the 6th graders will revert to 14U, as we've done in prior years.
Practice & Game Information
- Practices start indoors in March at scheduled times at Windsor Athletic Club and possible dates/times at school gyms. Once the weather improves, we move outdoors to Lions Park on Hogan Road (next to the Ice Pond) with structured days/times.
- For 2026: Youth teams will practice two weeknights: Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:30-7:00. (This schedule is followed once we are able to get on the outdoor fields for practice.)
- Game schedule is released late March.
- Games are typically on Saturdays or Sundays and take place throughout the Madison area from April through end of May. 14U typically plays one home game at Warrior Stadium.
- All teams play in a tournament and that is TBD.
- Additional tournament(s) for teams may take place in Kettle Moraine and/or the Dells. Details TBD.
2026 Games: Begin April 18 and run through May 31st. (No games Memorial Day weekend.)
